New-look EPAL websiteSince February 2017, the European Pallet Association e.V. website has had a new look. In addition to current news, the licensee search function, the members’ area and many other improvements, it is also possible to download press releases, logos and images of products from the media library. The trilingual website is responsive and therefore optimised for display on all mobile devices. |
Visit by the Japanese Pallet Rental Corporation (JPR) to the EPAL General SecretariatThe Japan Pallet Rental Corporation is the leading pallet pooling company in Japan with a volume of 8.5 million pallets. Sixty-five per cent of the pool comprises plastic pallets. Yet the demand for EPAL pallets for export is on the increase. Toshifumi Okaba, Executive Director of Development Sales and Overseas Sales, visited EPAL together with his team. JPR currently imports new EPAL pallets from South Korea, but is becoming increasingly interested in obtaining an EPAL licence for production. |
Packaging Innovations, Empack and Label&Print, Birmingham, 01 - 02/03.2017The National Committee of the United Kingdom and Ireland, Brepal, was represented at Packaging Innovations / Empack and Label&Print in Birmingham on the 1st and 2nd March 2017. This trade fair is one of the UK’s leading packaging technology events. Wooden transport packaging was in the minority at the plastics-dominated trade fair. And precisely for this reason, Brepal’s stand, built from EPAL pallets was a magnet for visitors. The German National Committee of EPAL, the Gütegemeinschaft Paletten e.V., attends LogiMAT in StuttgartFrom 14th to 16th March, the German National Committee of the European Pallet Association e.V. took part in LogiMAT in Stuttgart. At the international trade fair for intralogistics solutions and process management, the natural material wood once again took centre stage. In addition to the stand constructed entirely from EPAL Euro pallets, the carbon savings and pollution created by load carriers were discussed. EPAL goes ProWeinEPAL and the Portuguese National Committee presented themselves at ProWein in Düsseldorf. ProWein is the most important business platform worldwide for the international wine and spirits sector. Over 6,500 exhibitors from more than 60 countries promoted themselves from 19th to 21st March in Düsseldorf. Half of the exhibitors came from Italy (1,600) and France (1,500), followed by Germany (1,000), outside of Europe (600), Austria, Spain and Portugal. Sustainability: Successful afforestation project of the EPAL Polish National CommitteeOn the 6th and 7th of April, the annual afforestation event of the Polish National Committee took place in the village of Pogorzelina, in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in north-western Poland. The slogan of this year’s event was “EPAL pallets in harmony with nature”. |
EPAL France is taking over QUALIPALWednesday 19th April 2017 was an important date for EPAL pallets in France. Indeed, EPAL’s General Assembly decided to officially confirm the decision in principle, voted on in 2016. The role of the French National Committee of the international association, EPAL, is now entrusted to “Comité EPAL France” [EPAL France Committee], part of the French National Wood Federation (FNB). Record number of participants at the Polish National Committees’ 4th Pallet ConferenceOn 15th and 16th May 2017, more than 200 interested visitors travelled to the fourth Pallet Conference held in Jachranka near Warsaw, Poland. Many notable companies, such as Danone, Lidl, Makro, Pepsi, Coca Cola, DB Schenker participated in the Pallet Conference. The main theme of the conference was the recommendation by EPAL to end the exchangeability of EPAL Euro pallets with UIC/EUR pallets. Numerous presentations and stimulating discussions marked the second day of the conference, while the first day was reserved for the traditional bowling competition, with enough time for discussions and networking. |

France: Direct dialogue with the actors in the supply chainOn 1st June 2017, EPAL France, the French National Committee of EPAL, organised an informative event with subsequent panel discussion on the topic of “Exchangeability of EPAL and UIC pallets”, in which the most important actors in the supply chain in France (shipping agents, carriers, retail and industry associations) took part. The event was jointly led by Martin Leibrandt, CEO of EPAL, and Jean-Philippe Gaussorgues, President of EPAL France. The aim of the event was to clarify the position of EPAL with regard to the exchangeability of EPAL and UIC pallets and to clear up any outstanding issues. |
